Visitor Information

The Center for Arts and Sciences is located just minutes from Highway 288 at 400 College Blvd. in Clute, Texas.

Organization Description

The Center for the Arts & Sciences is located less than 10 miles inland from our local beaches. Since the building opened in 1976, the heritage, talents and history of the Brazosport area have all been on display. The Center is home to five partner groups: Brazosport Art League, Brazosport Center Stages, Brazosport Museum of Natural Science, Brazosport Planetarium and Brazosport Symphony Orchestra.

Brazosport Art League

Brazosport Art League’s gallery at The Center hosts regional, national and international artists in exhibits that change every 5-6 weeks. In addition to a regular schedule of art shows, the league offers year-round workshops, demonstrations and classes for adults, teens and children, as well as two weeks of art camp during Summer at The Center.

Admission to the gallery is always free. Gallery hours are Tuesday – Saturday 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The gallery is also open during all Center Stages performances.

Brazosport Center Stages

Brazosport Center Stages is the oldest continuously operating community theater on the Gulf Coast of Texas. The volunteer members of Center Stages produce and perform plays and musicals throughout the year. Center Stages is committed to entertainment but also to performances that are socially relevant. Some productions may not be suitable for children and these exceptions are noted in the publicity and promotions.

Brazosport Center Stages hosts music theater and drama summer workshops for both children and teens as part of Summer at The Center, and has also recently partnered with Penguin Project to provide onstage and backstage opportunities for special needs children and teens.

Brazosport Museum of Natural Science

The Texas Gulf Coast was once home to dinosaurs, wooly mammoths, saber tooth cats, and indigenous cultures. It is now home to our natural science museum, with collections including items as small as a sand dollar and as large as a dinosaur! The presentations include displays of shells, fossils (including a complete allosaur skeleton), rocks & minerals and archeology. The butterfly & moth collection is surrounded by a display of Texas wildlife and birds.

The museum is family-friendly and admission is always free. Museum hours are Tuesday – Saturday, 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

BASF Planetarium

The only one of its kind in Brazoria County, the full-dome BASF Planetarium theater allows visitors to watch family-friendly, educational and entertaining shows about astronomy and the night sky, all from the comfort of reclining seats. Planetarium shows are recommended for ages 5 and up, and are slated for every Tuesday night and fourth Friday of the month at 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday afternoons at 1:00 PM.

Tickets are free for planetarium members; non-member tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children, making a night at the planetarium an affordable, entertaining and educational experience.

Brazosport Symphony Orchestra

Experience the world of music with Brazosport Symphony Orchestra, a partner group of The Center for the Arts and Sciences. The symphony performs six concerts a year at world-class venue The Clarion, located across the parking lot on the campus of Brazosport College.

Immerse yourself in classical favorites, pop arrangements and world premieres, live and in person…the way they were meant to be heard. Introduce the whole family to symphonic music performed by talented local players and professional guest musicians. Tickets are affordable and parking is free!
